1. Rename the updated content file with same name as original file and suffix with next version number. Save the file in eLearning SCORM Files in shared folder .
2. Go to: Learning Administration > Content > Import Content and click Next.
2. Browse the file
4. Click Next
5. From here, you will be taken to the Import Content form. Update the details.
In this scenario, please fill in the Special Instructions field to include:
The item ID and item title to which the content should be added.
Email address of the uploader who should be notified when the content is tested.
Any additional instructions.
Naming convention for Content Package Id: It is recommended to use the same name as that of initial content package Id (which is same as eLearning item Id) and suffixed it with the same version number as that of file version.
6. Click Import Files
After successful import, please rename/edit the Content Object IDs before scheduling the deployment job:
Naming convention for Content Object Id: It is recommended to use the same name as that of initial content object Id (mapped to an existing eLearning item) and suffixed it with the same version number as that of file version.
7. Click Schedule Job and the Background Job form will appear.
You may select to run the job immediately and set it to notify you via email when the job is done or schedule the deployment to occur on a different date/time. Files smaller than 4MB will deploy immediately while larger files will trigger a Background Job.
If the job is run immediately, it may take from a few minutes to several minutes for the deployment to succeed.
If the course is large or you are attempting multiple deployments simultaneously, you may consider setting the deployments as Background Jobs outside of business hours, so as not to impact daily LMS activities.
Finally, click Finish to finish setting the Deployment job and await notification or wait on the same screen for the Status of the deployment to change to Succeeded.
8. Once the job is executed, the new content object Id will appear in the LMS. It may take time for your content to load depending on whether or not there are day and time restrictions on background jobs, the size of your content package, and your connection speed.
If/when the iContent support email is entered into the notification field by the iContent representative, a ticket will be automatically generated for the iContent team. The iContent team will test the course and report the testing results back to the user specified in the Special Instructions field.
To apply a deployed URL to an existing content object:
1. Under the Content -> Content Objects tab, search by the Content Object ID that was specified during import (it should be Item or Content Object ID or some variation of that with v#):
If Content Object is not available, add it by selecting it from “Add/Remove Criteria” on the same page.
2. When the resulting content objects appear, click the Edit icon of latest updated content object Id and navigate to Launch Method to copy the URL listed in the Content URL field and paste it into the original content object Id's Content URL field.
E.g. For an eLearning Respect@work,
Initial content object Id(which is mapped to an eLearning item): Ventia_Respect@Work
Latest updated content object Id: Ventia_Respect@Workv3.0
3. Click edit icon of the updated content object Id Ventia_Respect@Workv3.0
4. Go to Launch Method tab and copy the url in Content URL field
5. Click Search Results link on the page to come back to the previous page
6. Click Edit icon of original content object Id Ventia_Respect@Work
7. Go to Launch Method tab, paste the url in Content URL field and click Apply Changes
Before you paste the url in original content object, it is recommended that you keep a record of any URLs that are overwritten in this manner. You may please create a notepad with File Paths and update the URLs getting overwritten along with their content object Id details and save that notepad in respective eLearning folder under eLearning SCORM folder in shared drive
Please note that the item will be ready immediately if you apply the deployed URL to the existing content object on your end
The main reason we recommend deploying updated content packages and applying the new URLs to the existing content object on the item (instead of removing content packages and adding the new package) is that any changes at item level, including swapping out content will most likely affect any users in progress by triggering the Reassignment Wizard.
If the updated course is designed the same way as the previous version, it will not be necessary to reassign to any users and users can most likely resume in the latest version of the course from the location where they left off in the previous version.
If there have been major changes to the design or content of the course, users that are already in progress will be required to start from the beginning, regardless of whether the course is reassigned or not (the same thing would occur if we were just updating the URLs, rather than swapping out content objects for deployed content packages).
The eLearning with updated content object is ready for technical testing.
