SuccessFactors eLearning Content Development Guide

SuccessFactors eLearning Content Development Guide

1 Overview

This guide provides eLearning Content Developer with reference information that may be required when developing an eLearning content which is being published in SuccessFactors Learning Management System. This will help to bring the consistency in the design of all eLearning being developed and help to reduce the occurrences of issues faced by users while completing the training online.

2 Scope

This guide will assist eLearning Content Developer with Do’s and Don’ts while developing an eLearning content for SuccessFactors LMS.

3 eLearning content development instructions

1. Add below user instructions on the introduction slide of new eLearning

2. Add “Exit” button on the last page of a course with instruction to click on Exit button

3. If there are any videos in the eLearning, ensure that they are not very lengthy. Perhaps, divide the lengthy video into multiple short videos with each 5 – 10 mins max length. Note: The lengthy video makes the SuccessFactors LMS session idle that may produce session time out error. Thus, causing failure in recording the training completion of user. With short videos there will be user interaction and that will help to avoid session time out error.

4. If the eLearning content length exceeds 30 minutes of completion duration, then split the content into multiple parts of smaller length and we will upload multiple parts against single eLearning item. Note: With multiple content, users can complete the training in parts and once all parts are completed, eLearning will be marked as complete. This will help to reduce bookmarking and completion issues with lengthy eLearning.

5. For the knowledge checks, keep the passing attempts unlimited unless the content owner requests limited attempts as a mandatory requirement. Note: With Restricted attempts if users fail at all attempts, system does not allow them to proceed further and the only solution is to reassign the training to them which will be an additional activity for People Systems team.

6. Review the content text for any syntax errors (grammar, spelling, punctuation etc.) and the text format consistency before generating SCORM file for LMS upload. This will help to avoid repeated uploads and testing at LMS side.

7. Ensure all the embedded web links within the content are working.

8. Course Export Setting:

a. For course with knowledge check passing percentage 100%

b. For course with no restriction on passing percentage.

c. For all courses always click “More Settings” and turn on the “Reset Learner Progress” toggle bar while generating SCORM file for initial developed content as well as for all the subsequent updates.

Alert
Note: This is very important setting to avoid blank page issue for in-progress courses which occurs when the section of the content is deleted and new SCORM is generated for LMS upload without turning on this setting
